Dickie Pride - Accidental Overdose

Pride was referred to a mental hospital, where it was somehow ruled that he should undergo a lobotomy. At the start of 1969, he attempted an ill fated comeback, but was found dead in his bed, having accidentally overdosed on sleeping tablets, leaving a widow and four year old son.

Tammi Terrell - Malignant Brain Tumour

Tammi Terrell was partially paralysed, blind and wheelchair bound, her weight dropping to around 85 lbs. After her death, a month short of her twenty fifth birthday, she was remembered by a devastated Marvin Gaye on his landmark 1971 album, the sombre and studied What’s Going On?

Mary Ann Ganser - Unknown

It was believed that she might have suffered from encephalitis brought on by a malignant mosquito bite, and that she died following an untreated seizure while visiting a friend. Others, including, allegedly, the Gansers’ mother, suggest that Mary Ann had battled heroin addiction for the last two years of her life, an overdose of barbiturates causing her death at just twenty two.

Fraser Calder - Car Crash

(the blues council)

On the way home from a gig in Edinburgh, the band’s tour van crashed outside Glasgow, killing Calder and James Giffen instantly.

Mike Millward - Throat Cancer

(second from left)

It was at this point that Mike Millward was diagnosed with throat cancer, which by and large put paid to his singing career. On recovery, Millward learned that he had leukaemia, which forced him into complete retirement. The most popular member of the group, Millward died at just twenty three.

Patsy Cline - Plane Crash

His hopelessly lost craft hit trees at Fatty Bottom, Tennessee. All on board perished.
